Dear Friends

Welcome to Shelters of Saratoga's newsletter! We hope you've been having a great summer. We have been so busy that we thought we'd share the excitement.

On the Socials

  • Early last month, a nutritionist from the Community Health Center came by the shelter to give our guests a mini workshop on healthy eating habits. And, houseguest James helped give our 14 Walworth Street a landscaping facelift!
  • Our staff was treated to a day of rest and relaxation in appreciation for all their hard work!
  • Walworth Street Alumna, Meghan, returned to make dinner for our current houseguests! "I wanted it to feel like they were having dinner at the Olive Garden."
  • And, another season of Community Connections begins this month!

We cannot tell you enough how grateful we are to have you with us in our mission to transform the lives of our neighbors facing homelessness. Your support matters, and is paramount in solving the complexities of homelessness in our area. We hope you join us at our upcoming Community Connections round-table which offers a safe space to connect, learn, and engage with other like-minded individuals who share your commitment to helping others and making great things possible! (More information below)

Gratefully,

Duane Vaughn

Executive Director

Feature Story

Hi, I'm Nancy -

"I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t have a place to go three years ago. I was given a second chance to become the person I knew I was – a good mother and grandmother, a reliable and trusted friend, and a beacon of hope for others.”

Community Corner

A special thank you to everyone who gave to our recent request for supplies!

- Broadview Federal Credit Union for their massive Summer Essentials donation, including: new towels, washcloths, hygiene products and more.

- Doreen Kamen, owner of Common Thread Saratoga, who put together her annual donation drive of non perishable food items and assorted hygiene products.

- Kim Foehser, a student from The King's School, who asked for items to donate to the shelter in lieu of birthday gifts. She hopes to inspire others to pay it forward, be kind to others, and help folks in our programs move towards self-sufficiency!

- Rock Voices with their donation of gift cards.

- and countless others who dropped off or shipped from Amazon!

These generous donations help replenish the supplies needed to provide basic care to our guests, while they work toward housing and financial stability.

Did you know that a gift of $100 can provide safe shelter, supportive services, compassionate care and housing navigation for one person per day?

Setting up a monthly gift of any amount can offer the stability our guests can depend on to help move their lives forward!
