A special thank you to everyone who worked on the project, including you, our contributors, the NYS Office of Temporary Disability Assistance (OTDA), DAASNY, Olsen Architects, and Munter Enterprises. | | Early in May our shelter grounds began bursting with color, laughter, and love thanks to the amazing kids from Temple Sinai of Saratoga Springs, their parents, volunteers, and staff! Together, this energetic crew planted flowers, crafted beautiful potted arrangements for our emergency shelters at 14 and 20 Walworth Street, and filled the day with joy — from gardening and snacks to singing songs. Their generosity in spreading beauty and kindness where it’s needed most is deeply appreciated. |

| | Crossroads Podcast Episode 10 - Child Homelessness |
| Homelessness in our community is not just a statistic — it's a daily struggle faced by families, teens, and children navigating a complex web of challenges, from mental health and public safety to food insecurity and a critical lack of stable housing. Over 30% of those experiencing homelessness in New York State are under the age of 18 — a reality that underscores just how vulnerable young people are in this crisis. In this episode of Crossroads, Executive Director Duane Vaughn talks with Jefferson Weidman, Runaway and Homeless Youth Program Director, CAPTAIN, and Kristen Carey, School Counselor and Homeless Youth Liaison, WSWHE BOCES about the unique challenges that homelesness presents to the youth population. |

| | For the past two years, our Emergency Shelter has had a beloved acoustic guitar—fondly named Fiona— that brought comfort, connection, and countless songs to life. But after years of joyful use, Fiona could no longer be tuned, and repairs weren't an option. When one of our guests, a talented musician, brought this to our attention, a staff member turned to the community for help. A simple post in a local Buy Nothing group sparked something incredible. In no time, we received not just one, but two guitars—along with a music stand and a tuner—all generously donated by kind-hearted neighbors. The joy was immediate. Our resident songbird, Paul, was over the moon, and the music that fills our shelter will continue to bring people together, thanks to the generosity of our community. |
